Rohatsu Morning Sitting

Rohatsu Morning Sitting

Rohatsu, literally the 8th day of the 12th month, is the annual Soto Zen Buddhist observance of Buddha’s Enlightenment.

In a monastery, Rohatsu sesshin is often 7 days long and involves 3am – 9pm periods of zazen and complete silence. However, in the Cally Road dojo, we will mark Rohatsu this year with a 1/2 day of zazen on the Morning of Saturday 10th December (as the 8th is a school night, and we all have jobs )

The morning will consist of a schedule that will be as such:

08:00 – 08:30 Zazen
08:30 – 08:40 Kinhin
08:40 – 09:10 ZZ
09:10 – 09:20 KH
09:20 – 09:50 ZZ
09:50 – 10:30 Tea break
10:30 – 11:00 ZZ
11:00 – 11:10 KH
11:10 – 11:40 ZZ
11:40 – 11:50 KH
11:50 – 12:20 ZZ
12:00   END
