SUMMARY:Blackberry Picking for Jam Making!
DESCRIPTION:Sadly,  the Blackberry season is almost over,  but there are still a few late-bloomers out there for us to get!\nLast year, the blackberry hunt was an amazing success, with berries leaping from the bushes into our buckets.. this year we may need to work a bit harder – but if we leave no leaf unturned, I’m certain we can collect a lot of lovely blackberries for making jam!\nWhy?\nThe jam we made last year was a wonderful success and helped to raise some needed funds for the dojo – it’s also a fun autumn activity and it tastes nice on our sunday morning post-zazen toast !\nWhere?\nWe will be picking at an old allotment site about 5 minutes walk from the Redbridge tube station  in Ilford East London on the Central Line\nWhen?\nSaturday 30th August,  – 10:00 meet at the station\nWhat to wear?\nWear Old jeans, a thick shirt with long sleeves and good shoes – blackberry bushes are thorny and there’s sure to be nettles and thistles around –  you may need a hat or rain coat – depending on the weather\nWhat to Bring?\nCONTAINERS – with lids – such as tupperware, ice cream tubs etc.\nEmpty glass jars with metal screw-on lids (something to put the jam in once made)\nAfterwards?\nIf there’s time we may stop by the pub near the station for lunch before making our way back to the Caledonian Road dojo to drop off the berries and maybe stay for zazen at 5:30pm (if you like)\nOn Sunday morning, after zazen,  we will make the jam at the cally road dojo -please come round to help with the cooking and jaring !\nWant to come?\nSend Lana an email  ( https://zeninlondon.org/contact-us/ ) or a text on 07946 441 884  so we know to expect you at the station – then.. just meet at the Redbridge Tube station at 10am Saturday\n \n
